New Car Showing 575KMS with 100%

I got the delivery of Tesla Model 3 LR on 30th Jun 2023. i charged the car to 100% and the range was 570km in first time and second time onwards its clocking till 575 KM.
i am shocked as i was supposed to get range 600+ for long range. i tried opening a service request but all are auto closed by stating its normal.
i am not convinced that its normal to get almost 30KMs less range than earlier promised.

any guidance, improvements from here are truly appreciated

It is normal.

The 600+ km is according to the WLTP-cycle that Tesla is required by law to show in EU.

The 575 km is the range estimate for the EPA-cycle used in the US.

its not a deal breaker but love to see it going above 600kms. dont know much on WLTP or european standards which is exaggerating.

Legato is spot on.

Your model 3 has a maximum displayed range of the EPA range, 358 miles ( = 576km).
The LG battery you have usually increase the capacity (at least from the BMS, battery management systems view) after a while.
It is probable that the maximum range will increase to 576km in a month or so.
In some cases it probably temporary can show slightly more than 576km, by a few km’s.

You will not see 600+.

i wish Tesla team could have been clear the way they communicated so expectations are truly set. happy with car and waiting ahead to see how much battery will diminish in winter season.

EPA is also exaggerating...
The real highway range is lower than 575 km, and in winter much lower.

My car has 565 km WLTP and 440 km real range in the summer, 330 km in the winter. On highways.

When You were driving exhaust cars, did they get the advertised mileage?
My Volvo XC60 had a fuel consumption of 35 l/100 km when cold.

By law Tesla need to use the WLTP Ratings, even if they do not agree with the values.

The 575-576 km is not a true range either.
Well it is, at moderate speed on a warm day.
But for most days the car will use more energy per km than this, and therefore have a shorter real range.

The 576 km max value comes from a fixed Wh/km so you probably use up to 1.5 displayed km for each km driven on the highway.
For the real range estimation use the energy app on the screen.

But it is a bit misleading to compare fuel tank capacity with range. Range is a function of energy stored (kWh for electric cars and litres of fuel for cars with combustion engine) and consumption (measured in kWh/km or litres/km). If Tesla promised an 80 kWh battery but delivered a 70 kWh battery, that would be the equivalent to Volvo promising a 60 litre fuel tank and delivering a 50 litre fuel tank. How far the Volvo gets depends both on the fuel volume and how much it consumes per km.

Absolute you nailed it with science and may be common sense thats not prevailing in me. i started this as Tesla wrote the car range is 603KMs. i had an expectation that i will get to see 600+ kms range on which i may going to travel less due to AC, mobile charging, my own way of driving and may get mileage of 500KMs. However now the science and facts which has been put forward made me believe that what tesla wrote was correct and as per EU law it was me who understood it wrong.

Anyways, i had an expectation that i will get 600KMs+ and now i am getting less... so call it illogical but it pained.

this could be one of the learned fact of transitioning from fossils to electricity.

The tank capacity was the same on my 329 hp T6 as on the weakest D4. The range depends on the volyme and the consumption.
Usually the consumption is stated for ICE cars and for EVs it's the range. Both could be very different IRL compared to advertised.
The tank capacity on an EV is measured in kWh.

All these values are according to a standard cycle that all car makers have to follow. It's not that Tesla falsifies the range.

As range varies by consumption, and consumption varies depending on a lot of factors, but mainly speed. It is impossible to define a correct range for all situations. It is possible to achieve the promised WLTP range by driving very slowly, probably around 60-70km/h in summer time.

However, what I agree to is that Tesla could be more clear on what the km-display is derived from. Or change it to WLTP figures for European cars, or change it to a figure based on recent consumption as in typical ICE-cars.

On top of that, I think that WLTP is a rather poor test procedure for electric cars, it would be better to replace it with for example: Consumption at a given highway speed (let’s say 100km/h) at 20 degrees Celsius. Highway speed is the only logical speed to choose, because range only matters when you are driving far (typically on highways).
