Home charging option in Norbotten

Hello Tessie Friends, :D :D :D

I am a new Tesla owner and a new house owner (Bostadratt). I use the public charging option as of today. I am planning to install a home charging box. The market is confusing me with tons of options and the sales persons are helpful as well as not helpful in clearing my doubts. I did my own research as much as possible and figured out the following things. I would like to ask you all which option is preferable.

First of all , my house fuse is 16A. I requested the HSB association for raising the fuse to 20A. What would be the response, I do not know. I live in Lulea, you could expect the temperature to be worse.

Coming back to the charger boxes with installation option, I got three option to choose from

1. Tesla wall connector with raising the fuse to 20A ( I prefer this but highly dependent on HSB 's response)
2. Zaptec go with load balancing
3. Defa power with load balancing

Looking for your experience ....

Hi, and welcome to Tesla ownership! Perhaps -judging from the fact that you are writing in English - also a big welcome to Sweden!

I haven’t tried either the Zaptec or the Defa, but I know that the Zaptec one is very popular and often recommended by others here.

I would definitely advice to get a load balancer either way though, regardless of wether or not you can install a higher load main fuse. It greatly increases ease of use and peace of mind. You can then simply set the car to charge at “maximum speed” (16A) and never have to worry. If anything else is using current, the load balancer simply adjusts the car charging automatically.

Hi and welcome to Luleå :) We live in an apartment in Luleå and during (most of) the weekends in our house outside of Piteå.

In our house, we have two Easee chargers and at our apartment, the housing cooperative (BRF) installed a solution from ZPark during the last summer.

In our house, we have no problem charging with a 20A main fuse. However, a load balancing option is highly recommended.

Here in Luleå, I know HSB might have som recommended and preferred company ro recommend. Otherwise, both the local power company LuleåEnergi or one of the larger electrical companies like Nelab or Install could be of some help.

When it comes to the chargers, I know that both Zaptec and Defa will do their job. Another option could perhaps be Wallbox of You are interested in a fixed cable?

On thing, if You are looking to apply for support for the installation, please purchase both charger and installation from the same company. The company should be able to support You with the application.

Good luck with Your choice :)

Hi Roffe,

I may not have option to raise the fuse to 20A. Atleast, I do not have any approval yet from the BRF. Hopefully, I get it I beleive.

So, My option could be Zaptec or Defa or Wallbox (as you mentioned) with a load balancing.
Possibly, if I have chance to raise the fuse, I will definitely do it.
Yes, I am planning to buy both from the same company as well.

Could you suggest me an electrician? whom I could rely on.

Also, lot of tesla lovers mention about Easee chargers, are they good?

I would have installed the Tesla Wall Connector and set it to charge at tri-phase 6A or have an electrician check your house for the phase with the lowest usage.

At night, when you usually charge, there should be plenty of capacity left over for your car.

Yes, I am satisfied with Easee. However, there have been an issue with the swedish authority for power safety the last year, that now seems to be solved. They could be in the game as well, they may use both wifi and 4G to communicate with the server/app

My brother inslalled a Zaptec a month ago in Piteå, he chose Install AB: https://install.se/solenergi-2/#laddstation

Another good electrical company is Nelab, they offer both Zaptec and Garo: https://www.nelab.se/elektriker-privatperson/laddbox/

I know both of these companies also have electicians that do jobs in Luleå, however I normally used them in Piteå. You could send them an email or give them a call.

Good luck!
