Hi all,
Coming from a country where cold winters are almost non-existent. Recently received MY comes with winter tires and the time to change to summer tires is coming.
Could you please explain me how should one proceed with changing tires? Can I do it myself or is going to a professional advised?
Thanks in advance.
PS: apologies for writing in english

Hi! its very easy to do yourself. Take less than 30 minutes. But as the car is over 700k, i should let another do it if you never did it before.

I agree, it is not rocket science but you need a jack, jack pad and probably a key where you can see the thightening moment. 175 Nm for model Y i think.

Is there anything special to take into consideration in regards to the sensors?

I'll think that would depend on if you have one of those power tools for loosening and tightening wheel bolts. I've never used one so don't know if it's possible to brake something using one of those...
Considering it will be your first time and if you're not using the power tool described above I'm going to guess it will take longer than 30 minutes...

It only costs 300-400 SEK to get it done professionally, and no need for tools.

And in case that was hard to understand - what Icerman meant is that you need a
torque wrench for the correct torque when tightening the bolts. Personally I don't use a torque wrench when changing tires but I've done it for 20 years twice a year with my cars so I'd recommend using one for anyone who's not used to changing tires. But as others have mentioned - for a 700 KSEK car I'd recommend you to let a tire workshop to the work for you, it's wort a few hundred SEK, especially if you don't have the equipment or the space to do it yourself.

Additionally, if you lack the storage space at home for 4 large tyres, you can also quite often find that the same service shops offers to store your tyres when not in use for a small fee.

Since the car and especially the battery is quite expensive and delicate, I would be a little picky about which tyre shop to outsource the job to. I'd call and ask if they have lifted a model 3 or Y before, if they have the correct "pucks" and what their policy is with regards to letting any trainees loose on the wheels without using a torque limiter bar on the impact gun.

Thank you all. Any one have any recommendation for professionals used to work with Tesla? Stockholm.

I suggest you start a new dedicated thread on that topic. The topic of this thread is "Change of Tires". So people that know an answer to this new question of yours will possibly skip over this thread since judging from the thread title there will be no way of knowing what kind of info that you now would like to be informed of...

North of Stockholm, Euromaster at Upplands Väsby, along the E4, get a lot of Tesla’s due to the proximity to the service centre. I use them.

Euromaster Kista was those that received my winter tires directly from Tesla at delivery of the vehicle. I've kept on using them and also used them for my new wheels where they fixed everything with great service.

Hello. Of course, it is better to entrust it to a specialist who has done it many times, especially considering the value of your car. Also, if you need another set of wheels, I got the information from here
